Spectral Energy Distributions of T Tauri Stars with Passive Circumstellar Disks
نویسنده
چکیده
We derive hydrostatic, radiative equilibrium models for passive disks surrounding T Tauri stars. Each disk is encased by an optically thin layer of superheated dust grains. This layer reemits directly to space about half the stellar energy it absorbs. The other half is emitted inward and regulates the interior temperature of the disk. The heated disk Ñares. As a consequence, it absorbs more stellar radiation, especially at large radii, than a Ñat disk would. The portion of the spectral energy distribution contributed by the disk is fairly Ñat throughout the thermal infrared. At Ðxed frequency, the contribution from the surface layer exceeds that from the interior by about a factor 3 and is emitted at more than an order of magnitude greater radius. Spectral features from dust grains in the superheated layer appear in emission if the disk is viewed nearly face-on. Subject headings : accretion, accretion disks È circumstellar matter È infrared : stars È radiative transfer È stars : preÈmain-sequence

Spectral Energy Distributions of Passive T Tauri Disks: Inclination
We compute spectral energy distributions (SEDs) for passive T Tauri disks viewed at arbitrary inclinations. Semi-analytic models of disks in radiative and hydrostatic equilibrium are employed. Over viewing angles for which the flared disk does not occult the central star, the SED varies negligibly with inclination. For such aspects, the SED shortward of ∼80μm is particularly insensitive to orie...

We improve upon the radiative, hydrostatic equilibrium models of passive circumstellar disks constructed by Chiang & Goldreich. New features include (1) an account for a range of particle sizes, (2) employment of laboratory-based optical constants of representative grain materials, and (3) numerical solution of the equations of radiative and hydrostatic equilibrium within the original two-layer...

متن کاملCircumstellar Disks around Pre-main–sequence Stars: What Iso Can Tell Us
ISO observations will improve our understanding of disks around low-mass pre-main–sequence stars in various ways. In particular, ISO can measure simultaneously spectral energy distributions and lowresolution spectra from 2 to 12 μm of T Tauri stars with greater sensitivity, greater spectral coverage and finer spectral resolution than available in ground-based observations or with IRAS. We illus...
متن کاملA Survey and Analysis of Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph Spectra of T Tauri Stars in Taurus
We present mid-infrared spectra of T Tauri stars in the Taurus star-forming region obtained with the Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph (IRS). For the first time, the 5–36 μm spectra of a large sample of T Tauri stars belonging to the same star-forming region is studied, revealing details of the midinfrared excess due to dust in circumstellar disks. We analyze common features and differences in the ...
